FAQ

Common Questions

Which electrical panel brands are considered dangerous?

Four brands account for nearly all replace-on-sight calls: Federal Pacific (FPE/Stab-Lok) and Zinsco for documented failure patterns, and Challenger and Pushmatic for recalled components and obsolete designs respectively. Modern Square D, Eaton, Siemens, and GE panels have no comparable defect history.

My panel brand isn’t listed — is it safe?

Probably, if it’s a modern name brand in good condition. Age and symptoms matter more than brand at that point: 25+ years old, warm breakers, buzzing, or rust are all reasons for a professional look regardless of the label.

Is this checker a substitute for an inspection?

No — it tells you your risk tier in 60 seconds, not the condition of your specific panel. That’s what the free in-person estimate is for: we open it, inspect the bus and connections, and give you a straight answer in writing.
